Whenever I leave the house, I wish I were invisible.
During Covid, what everyone experienced to be traumatic and temporary was already my whole life. Fear, anxiety, loneliness, uncertainty, an internal war with my own ideas is the world of an unmarried woman in her thirties from Upper Egypt.
كلما غادرت المنزل، أتمنى لو كنت غير مرئية.
عانيتُ طوال حياتي ما اعتبره الجميع مؤلماً ومؤقتاً أثناء جائحة "كوفيد-19". الخوف، والقلق، والوحدة، وعدم اليقين، وتصارع الأفكار هي سمات عالم امرأة غير متزوجة في الثلاثينيات من عمرها في صعيد مصر.
هنا، تشعر أن المرأة تربّت على الطاعة وعدم المجادلة. أنا شخصية خجولة للغاية. أهرب من وحدتي، ومخاوفي، وعقلي الذي لا يتوقف عن التفكير، إلى مشاهدة التليفزيون والرقص والتصوير الفوتوغرافي، لكن الطعام لا يزال هو أول ما ألجأ إليه. أرى نفسي أحيانًا مجسدة في شخصية سينمائية، لأنها تشبه الأفكار والصراعات التي أعيشها في الواقع. يجعلني ذلك أتعلق بهذه الشخصية وأعيش كل التجارب التي تمر بها. أتمنى الحصول على قوى خارقة يمكن أن تساعدني في السفر عبر الزمان والمكان بحيث كلما نادت أمي باسمي، أظهر لها على الفور.
Doaa Nasr is a freelance photographer and visual storyteller from Manflout, Asyut in Upper Egypt. Her interest is photojournalism and documentation focusing on people and their stories, especially women issues. The year 2011 was a turning point in her life. At the time, Egypt witnessed a political and emotional upheaval, with protests everywhere in the country. Capturing certain moments and incidents during this time gave her strength and a sense of freedom.
Upper Egypt is a very conservative society where working in photojournalism is very difficult for a woman; she is trying to change people’s views towards women as journalists. Doaa is a member of APJD and Women Photograph. She participated in a Nikon contest for photography in 2016, and got third place.
